Overview

Icecream Photo Editor is a Windows image editor and photo manager for adjusting pictures, adding graphic elements and assembling collages. It offers a free version and paid PRO licenses. PRO includes text, collage and enhancement tools, along with commercial use rights.

Folder gallery

Icecream Photo Editor opens pictures through Browse for images or by dragging a file into its workspace. It accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF and BMP images. Gallery displays the pictures in a folder as thumbnails, with a zoom control for changing their display size.

Users can browse the collection, rotate pictures and delete unwanted files. Opening a picture brings it into the editor for individual changes.

Dimensions and orientation

The crop tool places a box over the picture. Dragging its edges changes the area that Icecream Photo Editor retains. A Ratio menu supplies preset proportions, while custom dimensions define a specific frame. Apply commits the crop.

Resizing changes the picture’s dimensions, and the width and height lock preserves its original aspect ratio. Rotation and horizontal or vertical flips change orientation. A separate Tilt slider adjusts the angle for straightening a sloping horizon.

Light, color and filters

Image Enhancement offers automatic correction or manual adjustment through separate Light and Color groups. Exposure changes overall lightness, while contrast changes the difference between light and dark areas. Highlight and shadow sliders provide further tonal adjustment.

Icecream Photo Editor also controls saturation, temperature and tint for changing color intensity and balance. Filters apply a preset appearance instead, with choices such as black and white, old film, fisheye and watercolor. The filter panel shows thumbnail previews of the different looks.

Brush corrections

The Blur tool works over the areas where users paint. Brush size determines its coverage, and blur strength controls the amount of softening. Users can zoom into the picture and reduce the brush diameter when working around a subject’s outline.

For portraits, Icecream Photo Editor provides a Retouching panel. Users adjust brush thickness, softness and intensity before painting over wrinkles. Other portrait corrections smooth skin, reduce red-eye, whiten teeth and remove shine.

Selection and backdrops

Selection Area provides rectangle, ellipse, lasso and straight-line outlines for marking part of a picture. Users can invert the selection and choose a background color, including transparency.

The separate Background Change panel accepts a picture or color for a replacement backdrop. Icecream Photo Editor provides edge-blur and edge-shift controls for adjusting its boundary before applying the change.

Text objects

The text tool adds a box that users can position and resize over the picture. Changing its width changes how the text wraps across lines. Icecream Photo Editor lists separate text objects beneath the formatting controls, so users can return to an individual caption during editing.

Font, size, orientation and color control the lettering. Line and letter spacing adjust its layout, while outlines and drop shadows add surrounding effects. Each text box retains its own settings within the current composition.

Graphics over a photo

Add Image places another picture over the open photo, while Stickers supplies graphics from a library. Users position and resize these objects, adjust opacity, choose a shape and add outlines or shadows. The object order controls which elements appear over others.

Freehand drawing adds marks directly along the pointer’s path. Shape tools place arrows, rectangles, ellipses, polygons or stars over the image, with opacity, fill and outline controls. For the whole photo, frame presets add a surrounding border with adjustable size.

Collage layouts

Icecream Photo Editor starts a collage from an open picture. Users choose a template in Collage Maker, then drag additional photos into its slots. Repositioning the pictures changes their placement within the layout.

The frame controls set the borders between photos. Users adjust their width and select a color, including a color that the eyedropper picks from the picture. Save collage exports the composition as JPEG, PNG or BMP, with quality settings, a filename and a destination folder.

Original or separate file

Save can replace the original image. Icecream Photo Editor presents a choice to save into that file or use Save As for another destination. Output settings provide format and quality choices.
