xVideoServiceThief takes a video-page address, finds the media through a site-specific plug-in, and saves the resulting file to a chosen download folder. It handles a different job from a browser bookmark or Save Page command: those actions preserve the web page, while xVideoServiceThief tries to locate the video stream behind it. The same queue can convert a completed transfer into another media format. It does not edit the video’s scenes, titles, or sound after conversion.
Pages and media
A normal job starts with the address of a supported video page. xVideoServiceThief passes that address to the plug-in written for the hosting service. The plug-in reads the site’s page or request pattern and returns the media location that the downloader can request. The queue then shows the transfer separately from the browser tab where the user found it.
A custom download follows a shorter route when the user already has the direct media URL. The address can enter the Downloads list directly, and xVideoServiceThief can still apply the selected conversion after the transfer. A page URL and a direct file URL are therefore different inputs. Pasting a page for an unsupported service does not turn it into a direct download.
The plug-in boundary
The plug-in design lets one program understand many unrelated hosting sites, but each handler depends on the site’s current page and stream rules. A hosting service can change those rules without changing the visible Play button. The old plug-in may then fail to find the media even though the same page still plays in a current browser.
xVideoServiceThief keeps service logic outside the central downloader, so a plug-in update can repair one site without rebuilding the whole transfer interface. The official project support area nevertheless records failures tied to individual services, login checks, and RTMP streams. A failed extraction is not proof that the Internet connection or output folder is broken; the service handler may no longer match the page.
Queue and timing
xVideoServiceThief can place several videos in one queue, pause or resume a transfer, and schedule downloads for a later time. Search results can also feed the queue, while drag-and-drop adds a known video to it without reopening the add dialog. These controls affect transfer order and timing. They do not guarantee that a scheduled page will still expose the same stream when its start time arrives.
The download folder remains the destination for the saved file. Conversion can run as part of the job, so the queue may continue working after the network transfer reaches its end. Closing the program before that second stage finishes can leave only the downloaded source or an incomplete converted output.
Conversion outputs
xVideoServiceThief can convert video to AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, WMV, MP4, or 3GP, and it can extract an MP3 audio file. The user chooses conversion settings when adding the video rather than passing the result through a separate editor. Format conversion changes the container or encoded media; it does not improve a low-resolution source or restore detail that the host never supplied.
FFmpeg performs this conversion work. The packaged builds bundle that component except on Linux, where xVideoServiceThief expects the required conversion software to exist separately. A download may therefore succeed while conversion fails on a machine that lacks the dependency. Keeping the original downloaded file until the converted result opens correctly avoids turning a conversion error into a lost transfer.
