Tipard MTS Converter changes AVCHD camera recordings stored as MTS or M2TS into video and audio formats that are easier to edit, share, or play. The user imports clips, chooses an output profile, optionally trims or crops them, and writes new files to a selected folder. Tipard MTS Converter keeps the camera source separate from the converted result. It is a converter with preparation controls, not a full timeline editor for a layered production.
Import camera clips
A camcorder card can store video across several MTS files with related metadata in neighboring folders. Copy the complete card structure before conversion when preserving the original recording matters. Importing only visible clips is enough for conversion, but it can discard information another editor might use.
Several files can enter the job list at once. Confirm their recorded order and audio before starting. Similar filenames from different cards can collide after copying them into one folder, so separate each card or shoot day before renaming.
Choose the target
The profile menu groups output by format and playback device. MP4 or MOV is only the container; codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, and audio settings determine compatibility and size. A target-device profile reduces manual choices but still needs a short playback test.
Tipard MTS Converter can also extract an audio stream or encode it into another audio format. Select the intended source track when a recording contains several languages or camera channels. The wrong track can produce a technically successful file with silence or unintended sound.
Trim the recording
Trim sets a start and end point so unwanted footage does not enter the result. Multiple clips can be prepared before conversion, and the merge command can join selected items into one output. This is useful for simple continuous playback.
Joining does not create a detailed edit with transitions or independent audio layers. Gaps, exposure changes, and camera restarts remain visible. Keep the sources because changing an in or out point later requires another conversion.
Crop and correct
Crop removes edges and can adapt the visible area to a selected aspect ratio. Picture controls adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue, while volume changes the chosen audio level. A text or image watermark can be placed over the converted picture.
These edits become part of the new file. A crop that cuts off a face or a watermark placed over subtitles cannot be removed from that output without another clean source. Preview several points in the clip, not only the first frame, because subjects and captions can move.
Balance size and quality
Higher bitrate generally preserves more encoded detail while creating a larger file. Resolution above the camera source does not restore missing detail, and a low bitrate can add blocks or smearing. Frame-rate conversion can also change motion cadence.
Use the source frame rate unless a real delivery requirement says otherwise. Test a short section with fast movement, fine texture, and quiet audio. That sample reveals problems more quickly than waiting for a long batch to finish.
Protect the originals
Tipard MTS Converter needs an output folder with enough free space and avoid using the camera card as the destination. A conversion can require substantial temporary storage, especially when several clips run together. An interrupted write may leave a partial file that still has a familiar extension.
Open the completed output, check duration, tracks, synchronization, crop, and playback on the intended device. Only then consider removing temporary copies.
