TweakNow RegCleaner is a free registry-cleaning utility for Windows. It scans for obsolete registry entries and presents the findings for selection and removal. Its scope is the registry data used by Windows and applications, including entries left behind after software has been uninstalled.
Registry scan
Applications use the Windows registry to retain settings and other configuration data. Removing an application can leave some of those entries behind. TweakNow RegCleaner searches the registry for obsolete or unwanted items, with a Scan Now command that starts the examination.
The scan covers several types of registry information. Its result categories include missing shared DLLs, unused file extensions, invalid default icons, ActiveX and class issues, application paths, startup entries and uninstall records.
Reviewing and selecting findings
The results view provides a category list with counts alongside a table of individual findings. Each row shows the registry path, the data identified as invalid and a 32-bit or 64-bit designation. Selecting a category narrows the displayed results to that part of the scan.
Checkboxes let you choose entries for removal. You can inspect a particular path or group before using Clean Registry to process the selection.
Registry backup
Before deleting obsolete entries, TweakNow RegCleaner automatically creates a backup file. The main window includes Restore Backup to recover saved registry data after a cleanup. The backup relates to the registry changes made during cleaning; it is not a backup of applications or personal files.
