Overview

edjing Mix is MWM’s DJ app for Android, iPhone and iPad. It blends tracks through touchscreen decks with tempo matching, effects and stem separation. Basic mixing is free; an optional Pro subscription adds the full effects rack, Stemz access and HD recording.

Loading music onto the decks

The library brings together device audio files, Dropbox, Google Drive and streaming services. You browse or search a source, then load a track onto a deck. Spotify requires Premium, SoundCloud requires Go+, and TIDAL and Beatport use their respective accounts. These services have separate subscription requirements; music-source access itself does not require a paid edjing Mix subscription.

Apple Music also works on iPhone and iPad with an active subscription. Streaming needs an internet connection. Audio downloads inside another streaming app do not become files that edjing Mix can import.

Moving between two tracks

Each deck plays its own track. BPM detection identifies tempo, and Sync helps match the decks’ tempos and beat positions. The crossfader controls how much of each deck reaches the main mix. Gain adjusts level, while three-band EQ changes low, middle and high frequencies within each track.

Private headphone cueing previews the incoming track separately from the audience output and needs compatible routing with separate outputs. The iOS app also supports compatible MIDI controllers. DJ School supplies lessons and masterclasses covering DJ fundamentals and effects.

Recalling positions during a mix

Hot cues save positions within a track. After selecting a position and assigning an available cue slot, you can trigger that point again during playback. Loops instead repeat a passage until you release them, with length controls changing the repeated section.

edjing Mix can add Echo, Flanger, Reverse and Filter during a transition. Sampler pads add sounds alongside the playing tracks. Access to the full effects collection depends on the Pro offer.

Mixing individual musical elements

Stemz uses AI to separate supported tracks into vocals, drums and instrumental elements. Its controls lower or mute individual elements while the decks continue mixing. You can isolate a vocal from one track and combine it with another track’s instrumental.

This separation works with supported audio files. Spotify and Apple Music exclude stem separation and recording, and other streaming sources can impose restrictions.

Handovers from an Automix queue

Automix loads tracks from an ordered queue and handles their transitions automatically. You choose the music and transition duration, then pause or skip tracks during playback.

On iPhone and iPad, transition controls use automatic timing, seconds or beats, alongside playback start and end points. Android offers transition duration, an offset before the song ends and Auto Sync for tempo alignment.

Saving the mixed performance

Recording captures the set as one audio file, including track changes and transitions. It requires recordable sources on the decks and in the Automix queue. The recorder saves the combined output rather than separate decks or stems.

On iPhone and iPad, export choices include compressed M4A and lossless WAV. Android records WAV. After stopping and saving, you can play the recording and share it through the device’s available destinations.
