Google Arts & Culture is a free Google app for exploring artworks, cultural archives, and historic places. It runs on Android, iPhone, and iPad. The website also provides collections, exhibitions, and interactive experiments.
Find a subject to explore
You can browse by institution, artist, medium, art movement, historical event, figure, or place. The home feed brings together cultural stories, daily highlights, and experiments. Individual collections connect works with the institutions that contribute them.
Conversational search accepts questions in your own words. It returns explanations alongside images and stories from partner archives, so a question can lead into the underlying cultural material.
Details inside an artwork
Art Camera lets you zoom into high-resolution images to examine details. Experts create digital exhibitions that connect works with their stories, while in-painting tours guide attention through a painting. The Translate button changes exhibit text into your language.
Art Recogniser uses the device camera to identify works and retrieve related information. It also works offline at select museums.
Visit a virtual space
Street View opens panoramic visits to museums, landmarks, and heritage sites. The service also includes videos that present scenes in every direction. Pocket Gallery places a virtual exhibition in augmented reality, letting you explore its works up close.
Art Projector brings an individual artwork into your surroundings at its actual scale. An AR icon identifies eligible images, and the camera view places the work in front of you.
Photos as search inputs
Art Selfie compares a selfie with portraits in museum collections. Tapping a match opens information about the work or artist. Color Palette uses a photo’s colors to find artworks with matching hues, connecting an everyday scene with existing art.
Images and AI experiments
Art Transfer 2 uses a photo that you capture or upload and a style that you choose. It transforms the image, then explains how the result reflects brushwork, color, and composition. Related artwork and artist links continue the exploration.
Chrono Look transforms a selfie into historical-attire images through sketches or realistic renderings. In Dial-an-Artist, users converse with simulations of historical figures about their work. Art Zoom Out uses generative AI to create extensions beyond a painting’s frame.
Play with cultural images
The Play area collects interactive experiments and games. Puzzle Party turns artwork or heritage images into puzzles that players piece together. Multiplayer sessions let friends work on the same picture, including themed collections such as Historic Jeddah.
Your galleries and updates
Favorites saves artworks and groups them into personal galleries that you can share. A Google Account stores favorites and preferences. Notifications can bring weekly highlights or updates about favorite content.
Culture Weekly starts with your choice of cultural interests, such as music, history, fashion, or food. It then delivers a weekly collection of material around those subjects.
Nearby museums and city guides
Nearby uses your location to recommend museums, exhibitions, and cultural events. City Guide gathers local landmarks and current events for the destinations it covers.
